Your guide will pick you up from the airport or from your hotel in Muscat and head out to the first destination.
Two are the highest summits of Hajar Mountains: Jebel Shams and Jebel Akhdar. In this first day of your tour, a 4×4 car will bring you to Jebel Akhdar (the Green Mountain). At the bottom of the mountain, there is a hidden and almost abandoned village: Birkat al Mawz. A look inside the ruins will send you back in the past when the inhabitants of the village carried the dates on the donkeys’ back, through the narrow streets, crossing the falaj full of precious water. After the visit, the road starts to climb. Jebel Akhdar, along with its Sayq Plateau, is very famous in Oman for its farms where roses, pomegranates, and walnuts trees grow in terraces. The Sayq Plateau is also hosting traditional villages, will you see there, traditional mountains’ houses nestled in the fertile mountainside. Take your time to enjoy the frizzing air of this lovely place. In the afternoon you will proceed to Nizwa for the overnight.

In the morning after breakfast and you will reach the city of Nizwa, one of the old Omani capital.
Nizwa is famous for its fort, it has a unique large round shape tower with a diameter of 36 meters. After the visit of the fort and the suq where you can see the local vegetables, fruits and fishes, and where you can taste the most famous sweet, the Omani Halwa. Take your lunch before to proceed to Jebel Shams.
Driving along a beautiful road that runs at the foot of the Hajar mountains, you will pass through small Omani villages until you reach the area of Al Hamra and Wadi Nakheel. Following the Wadi, a mountain road will lead you near the summit of Jebel Shams (the Sun Mountain). You will stop here to look at the Grand Canyon of Oman.

You will leave the Jebel Shams area and be returning from the same road of the day before will you stop in the village of Al Hamra an old village. its architecture resembles the famous villages in Yemen, the walls of the houses are constructed with bricks made from a mixture of mud, water, and straw. After al Hamra you will turn to the mountains to reach a pass of 2100 –meter high. The adventure starts now, suddenly you will leave the asphalt road to follow an old mountain road. In a couple of hours, you will cross Wadis, small villages, palms, old ruins and from the top of the road you will see the incredible Snake Canyon. After about 45 km of off-road, you will find again the asphalt and you will return to the modern civilization. Continue to Muscat.
