Day 2: Vienna – Innsbruck – Swarovski Crystal World
After breakfast proceed to Innsbruck.
We’ll first arrive at Swarovski Crystal World (entrance tickets included). Entrance leads underground through the mouth of a giant monster with crystal eyes and the highlight is André Heller’s Crystal Dome, which sparkles with ever-changing light reflected from the stones, accompanied by moody music from Brian Eno. Other exhibits include the eerie Ice Passage, illuminated with millions of sparkles and with crystals crunching under foot by Olivier Irschitz, and Susanna Schmögner’s cute Crystal Theater, featuring sparkling zebras and gleaming red stiletto shoes.
Predictably, examples of Swarovski crystal can be bought in the store and the complex also offers art performances, a decent restaurant and a maze for kids to get lost in.
proceed to Innsbruck, and check in hotel. We’ll then proceed for a city tour in Innsbruck.
Our half day city sightseeing tour to Innsbruck starts at the bus parking lot next to the “Hofgarten” park. From there, we start with a round trip through the most interesting streets of Innsbruck. We will pass by the famous triumph gate of Innsbruck, the Innsbruck imperial palace “Hofburg”, the imperial chapel “Hofkirche”, the old town of Innsbruck and cross the city districts of “Saggen” and “Hötting”. When reaching the Innsbruck city district “Wilten”, we will leave the bus on the “Bergisel” mountain and visit the olympic “Bergisel Stadium”.
