Day 1: Arrival in Muscat

Arrival at Muscat Airport. Transfer to Hotel for the Check in.


Day 2: Half Day Muscat City Tour

Breakfast at Hotel.

Free Morning, to relax and recover from your trip. In the afternoon your driver will pick you up from your hotel to start a half day tour in Muscat. You will proceed to a panoramic road will lead you to the Old Muscat city. Stop for a picture of the elegant Omani Parliament building, completed in 2013, and the famous Sindbad Roundabout, place of magnificent copy of a traditional Omani dhow.

The Old Muscat area, completely renovated in the ‘70s by H.M. Sultan Qaboos, is a quite and full of trees place where you will see from outside the Al Alam Palace, the Sultan’s official palace, and the two Portuguese forts of XVI century, al Mirani and Al Jalali.

After that you will take a tour in Muttrah area take your time to have a look at the new restored fish market, make a short walk on the Corniche and visit the famous suq where you can buy precious gifts like the Omani Khanjar, spices, jewels… You will be drop off at your hotel on time for the dinner.

Day 3: Muscat – Bimah Sinkhole – Wadi Shab – Ras al Hadd

Departure from your hotel in the morning, first sightsee of the day will be the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (open only from 8 to 11 am). Built in 2001 the mosque is an extraordinary example of modern Islamic architecture. The main male prayer hall is very impressive, with a Persian carpet of 4.343 sq. m. and the 14 m high Swarovski chandelier. After the visit (about 1 hour) you will start your tour of the Country.

In 1 hour and half drive from Muscat you will reach the Bimah Sinkhole, a geological feature and a scenic wonder. After few kilometers you will be at the entrance of Wadi Shab. This Wadi is one of the most famous Wadi in Oman, a place where locals and tourists used to go, especially in the summer, to escape from the high temperatures of Muscat. When you reach the entrance of the Wadi, a small boat will allow you to cross the mouth’s river for most of the year full of water. Once you have crossed the river, you just follow the well-signed footpath that will lead you to the refreshing natural pools. Take a bath, relax and enjoy your time. After lunch (lunchbox will be provided) and after baths, you will return to the boat and with the car you proceed then to Ras al Hadd, the closest location to Ras al Jinz Turtle Reserve a unique natural landscape. Ras Al Jinz is world renown for the nesting of the endangered green turtle, probably the most important nesting concentration on the Indian Ocean. Your stay includes Evening / early morning turtle sightseeing.

Day 4: Ras al Jinz – Sur – Jalan Bani Bu Ali – Wahiba Sands

Starting in the morning from the hotel, you will reach first the city of Sur. Sur is the main city of Ash Sharqiyah region, and in the past, it was one of the biggest port in Oman, from where the commercial ships raise their anchors to sail to East Africa harbors. Sur is still considered the most important site for the construction of the traditional wooden ships. You will visit one of the last nautical shipyards of the whole Middle East, a great opportunity to look very closely at the handmade construction of this incredible ships. After this short visit you will proceed to a secret beauty of this country, the oldest mosque in Oman, the 500 years old Al Hammouda Mosque in Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, famous for its characteristic 52 domes is built in beautiful geometric design. From here, after lunch, you will proceed to the dunes of Wahiba Sands, look at your left, the soft dunes are already there. Fill the tank with the fuel, put down the air pressure of your tires and be ready for the adventure. You will suddenly leave the asphalt road for the sand dunes. Following a track, for few kilometers, you will find soon the higher dunes of Wahiba. Relax and enjoy the dune bashing with our expert drivers, going up and down from the dunes will be for you an amazing experience. As soon as you reach the tented camp, leave your luggage and strait go up to the dunes to enjoy the sunset and than take your dinner at the camp.

Day 5: Wahiba Sands – Wadi bani Khalid – Nizwa

Leave the sand dunes in the early morning to reach Wadi Bani Khalid. A nice road through the Hajar mountains will lead you to surprising views. Follow the Wadi, reach its end the refreshing natural pools. Take a bath, enjoy the panorama, make a short hiking until the small waterfall and relax. After a couple of hours, your driver will bring you to the restaurant on the road to Nizwa. The city of Nizwa is famous for its fort, it has a unique large round shape tower with a diameter of 36 meters. After the visit of the fort and the suq where you can see the local vegetables, fruits and fishes, and where you can taste the most famous sweet in Oman, the Omani Halwa, you will reach your hotel for the night.

Day 6: Nizwa – Jibreen – Misfat al Abreen – Al Hamra – Jabal Shams

Proceed with your driver guide to Jibreen Castle in Ad-Dhakiliyah Region. The castle, built in 1670 and inhabited by the Imam Bil’arab bin Sultan Al Yarubi, still has its original painted ceiling and beautifully carved doors. 55 rooms distributed in 5 floors, an intricate maze of rooms. Before leaving the castle don’t forget to pay homage to the Imam’s tomb located on the ground floor near the castle’s entrance. After lunch near the UNESCO Bahla Fort, you will visit Misfat al Abreen a small village that will capture your heart. A Persian tower, old houses and green terracings with dates’ palms, mangos trees, papaya trees and bananas are irrigated with fresh water coming from the traditional falaj. After a short walk, you will stop in the old village of Al Hamra. Its architecture resembles the famous villages in Yemen, the walls of the houses are constructed with bricks made from a mixture of mud, water, and straw. Leave the village and continue driving along a beautiful road that runs at the foot of the Hajar mountains, you will pass through small Omani villages until you reach the Wadi Nakheel. Following the Wadi and, a mountain road will lead you near the summit of Jebel Shams (the Sun Mountain). You will stop here to look at the Grand Canyon of Oman and for the night.

Day 7: Jebel Shams – Wadi Bani Awf – Muscat

The journey of today will lead you to enjoy the spectacular view of Wadi Bani Awf and its mountains, canyons, and villages. After al Hamra you will turn to the mountains to reach a pass of 2100 –meter high. The adventure start now, suddenly you will leave the asphalt road to follow an old mountain road. In a couple of hours, you will cross Wadis, small villages, palms, old ruins and from the top of the road you will se the incredible Snake Canyon. After about 45 km of off road, you will find again the asphalt and you will return to the modern civilization. Continue to Muscat, to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 8: Jebel Shams – Wadi Bani Awf – Muscat

Enjoy your morning, and after check out from your room your guide will bring you to the airport on time for your flight.
